Nikon D40? First DSLR? Tight on funds? - best monopod for taking pictures
Well, I am traveling in Europe, and I really want to get a DSLR for the ... My S3 is terrible levels of high ISO, low light, the speed is not good, etc, etc. .. I waited for a digital SLR camera a few years. I think it is a good time to go ahead and do it.
Anyway, I origionally look at Canon XS, but seems to still be raising prices in a range of 430 set during the holidays as much for its 510th I am willing to pay much, but what I'm thinking is:
Go with the D40 at Amazon for $ 403, with 18-55mm, and then a little more to pay for a different lens, perhaps none (ideas), and other accessories (memory cards, a bag of good can be monopod, etc.) .
Suggestions? Yes, I know thatis an expensive hobby, I am planning to give in photojournalism at the university, but I want the picture to pay for the best of my abilities.
and yes, I know that the camera does not make me too good pictures, I take pictures with my S3, no image quality, more for me than I would like to work with something better to shoot. :)

You can use the D60 very cheap these days ... Although the Rebel XS is a great camera, so if you can.
For a good camera at a discount, the K100D (super) / K200D're right. I tell you, unless the other two are the same price.
If you still get in your area for good photos and a cheap price, the D40 is excellent.
They have kits that include the Nikon D60 with 18-55 and 70-200 vibration reduction for cheap. I'm not the D40, which nearly a point and shoot.
You may have neglected other digital cameras that offer:
1. Built-in image stabilization of the body;
2. A larger zoom lens that does not require the purchase of another series of lenses and image stabilization;
3. A display of live action and
4. HD quality with the ability to [think the new Nikon D90].
Here is a better alternative to the quality of a Leica lens.
If you are really on a budget and want the best quality for the money can be found in the P & S Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 [with a Leica] that has more features than most pro SLRs, Lenses, or even just need the original single full-range goal, which comes with the FZ28. A review of:

The Nikon D60 is a DSLR-level property. I have one. It works well for me. DSLRs are much better than point and shoot cameras.
When set in the budget, I propose for the Nikon D40. It is cheaper. Please note the following:
1. Both the D40 and the D60 has a 18-55 mm. However, the D60 kit lens Vibration Reduction (call has-image stabilizer) for other manufacturers. Purpose of the D40 kit does not work.
2. The D60 has a dust reduction sensor. The D40 is not too much.
3. The D40 is a camera with 6 megapixels. The 10.2-megapixel D60.
There may be other differences, but these are the most important that I know. I would say that the D60 is a D40 with otherFeatures. Go with the D40.
