Can i tap into an existing outlet that is not the last in the run? - last electrical outlet on chain

I just bought a house and for instant messaging service. Putting in a flat-screen TVs on the wall, and I wanted to make it fit neatly connect through the installation of my cable and connect to directly behind the TV. I have an outlet near the floor directly below, but not his last attempt. I have a friend, an electrician, a long period and said it would be nice if a take, but someone told me I couldnt

You can press the terminal, which is not the end of the line. Unplug the power cord. Connect all cables and wires, nuts, leave the cable connected to the output of the former contact with. It is called corkscrew. Connect the new time and all is well, until the code. In addition, make sure to use the cable for the new outlet gauge is the same size as the existing one. Cable should not go to the load.
